My name is Jo Harris and I am an experienced young person and adult counsellor in Swindon, Wiltshire, and online.
I know that sometimes everything can seem like too much. Life can often feel scary and overwhelming. My practice is a safe, confidential place where we can share this burden, with me walking alongside you as you process painful thoughts in a way that feels comfortable for you. I work with young people going through a crisis of some kind, such as self-harm or suicidal ideation, giving them a chance to feel truly seen and understood, along with supporting adults through a range of difficulties, from depression to addiction to relationship difficulties.
If you are looking for young person or adult counselling in Swindon or online, feel free to give me a call. I offer online sessions for clients who are unable to access or have ability to travel to my practice.
Please get in contact.
I take a psychodynamic, person-centred approach to sessions, giving you the space to speak freely about your problems and be with you through that experience.
We will look at your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in the present moment and see how they are informed by your past, analysing these deep-rooted feelings in a compassionate way to resolve them and allow you to move forward.
For more information on the way I work as a young person and adult counsellor in Swindon and online, take a look at my My Approach page.
I work with children from 12 years old and upwards to overcome a range of issues. Sometimes a parent might struggle to understand how to help their child, while young people often find it hard to communicate how they feel. My practice is a place where they can safely explore what’s going on for them and receive a form of support that makes sense for them. Please see my Young Person Counselling page to find out more about how I work with young people.
Along with providing personalised young people counselling, my service is also available to adults, creating a warm, confidential environment for you to engage with your trauma and move past it. Some of the issues I am experienced in helping with include but are not limited to: Anxiety, Abuse, Depression, Bereavement, Crisis/trauma, Relationship difficulties, Parenting challenges, Work related stress, Family dynamics, Self-harm and suicidal ideation.
I know that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’re doing it for the first time, but I take care to make the process as easy as possible. You are free to email me to start with, after which I will get in touch with you to arrange a free, no-obligation introductory 30-minute session. During this time you will be given the chance to outline your problems as you experience them, learn more about how I work, and see whether you’d feel comfortable doing further sessions with me.
Should you wish to continue with sessions with me, we will come up with a therapeutic approach that makes sense to you. Additionally, I will be sure to confirm your preferred method for me to contact you.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and cost £50. I offer all sessions by appointment, which can be accessed in-person, online, or over the phone – usually on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depending on client needs.
If you would like to know a bit more about my counselling services for young people and adults, please visit my Adult Counselling or Young Person Counselling pages.

Please get in touch to arrange a free, no obligation telephone call. We can then meet and greet to gain an understanding of each other within the therapeutic relationship. This also allows you to make an informed choice whether I am the therapist for you.
